Hydroboost brakes

Is there a direct fit hydroboost unit that fits the 68-72 cutlass body?

http://www.hydratechbraking.com/brakeunits.html offers one for A bodies.

Works great.

I put one on my '72 and it will lock up the tires IF you want it to.

Actually, not. The manual brakes use a longer lever arm on the pedal, so the braking effort is not unreasonable. It isn't quite as easy as power brakes, but neither does it require standing on the pedal with all your weight. I actually enjoy the manual brakes in my 70 and my 62. No problems at all and very easy to modulate. I think most people who dump on manual brakes have never driven a manual brake car - they've only tried a power brake car with the engine off, which is very different.

The bigger problem from a leg pressure standpoint was the HD clutch I installed in my 72 442 back in my young and stupid days. Now THAT was a lot of leg pressure. Today it's Centerforce only for me.

Glad that you are happy with your manual brakes.

Although I'm sure there are inexperienced folks that are not familiar with manual brakes I'm not one of them as I started driving about 45 years ago and IMHO there is no comparison between manual brakes and a properly setup hydro boost system.
