Help! I am wiring MSD ignition system in my car and am stuck with the starter wiring. The starter has three posts - one for battery, one for run, and one for start. MSD says to wire both run and start to the ignition red on the CDI box. Something does not seem right.
If this is the case wound the starter continue to engage?

Then what do I do with the run and start wires from starter? Basically I have a red ignition wire coming from the. CDI box. I currently have the r and s wire from starter spliced into that red ignition wire. I am totally confused. I have built car and engine from ground up and feel stuck.
I was able to wire everything according to MSD requirements. However they do not include starter. I called them and they said to splice r and s from starter into red ignition wire on CDI BOX.

The starter solenoid has four terminals:
Big honkin' Positive goes to the battery
Big screw opposite that is screwed right to the tab on the starter
Little screw labeled "S" goes to the Start terminal on the ignition switch
Little screw labeled "R" goes to the coil, to supply extra current to the coil while cranking.
The ignition switch on the '66 provides power to the coil on Run, but not Start, so you ned the connection to the "S" terminal to provide current while starting, if I recall.
I was wrong to say that both the Start and Run terminals from the ignition switch needed to go to the coil.
The Run terminal from the ignition and the "R" terminal on the solenoid go to the coil (or the box).
Too much going on around here and I got distracted.
