Hard shifting
Hard shifting
I took the car out this morning to fine tune the timing and on one hard acceleration the transmission did a pretty hard up shift at about 40 mph. There was a sharp metallic clang from the transmission.
The car drove fine afterwards, but I only took it a few hundred yards.
Should I be concerned? Is there something benign that would cause this?

how long did it sit the clank may have been the drive shaft or possible loose trans mount which you would be amazed how easy they get loose. And the trans hard shifting could have been a pressure problem where something was gunked up and got free up after so much pressure.
