1956 olds windshield wiper help

how do you take off a wind shield wiper assembly so i can remove the grill vent...any help would be great...thanks

You need to take the wiper arms off first. The connection is a spline type from the transmission to arm. Then there is a nut with two slots in it actually similar but smaller to the ignition bezel where you need a special nut tool to loosen it which you can buy at Fusick.com to remove the transmission nut. Then after you take the vacuum lines off you should be able to take the chrome sleeve off the transmissions. The grille is also fasten to the windshield clips so you will have to take the chrome trim off the windshield. thanks for the info...i seen those slots and thought it might be the way.but of course i didnt want to go forcing something and breaking it...like what useally happens..doh
