67 442 Factory Tach?

Looked at a car today and had a tach mounted on steering column. The guy said it was a factory installation. Never seen one like this. It has a 442 emblem on it.
Also, is it normal to have the outline of a column shift on the instrument panel? it's right behind the tach.
Thanks as always.
Dave

As Hairy stated - aftermarket. Would love to see an image of what this outline of the column shift looks like.

That is actually a 65-66 chevy dealer added tach. It is commonly known as a bowtie tach because originally, the area with "442" had a plastic chevy bowtie emblem. It is possible the car was sold at a chevy/ olds dealer and it was dealer installed when new, but it is not correct for a 67 olds and the 442 emblem was certainly added. If you buy the car and decide to sell the tach. I would be interested.

Edit: It looks like the 442 emblem is probably a dash emblem and may just be held on with double sided tape over the original bowtie emblem.

Also,
Yes, floor shift/ stick shift on column cars have a raised rectangular outline where the shift indicator would be on a auto column shift car. Here you can see the raised area in a correct oldsmobile tic-toc-tach dash.

Yep, that's it. I seem to think that I have seen panels without the outline.
BTW, my picture posting problem because of the vPN also stops pictures from being viewed.
Who would have thought?
Thanks!

That's it.
Not a big fan of that big tach on the column, but if I buy the car don't want to leave a hole where it was mounted.
I guess I could mount a hula girl statue in its place.

Depends on whose VPN, public or private & encryption algorithm in which the VPN tunnel is secured. If it's (by chance) an employee-based company VPN forget about it.

Does the car have any original paperwork? It's a long shot but, if the seller has the original sales invoice it may show a dealer installed tach. If that is the case, I might just leave it alone.

Lots of paperwork, but nothing seen with the tach that I saw. It was handwritten where they put as set Hurst wheels on the car. I'm not sure if it was from the dealership when the car was bought.
I could understand why you might want them if you have a Hurst shifter, but it's an auto car.

Are the Hurst wheels still with the car? Stick or automatic makes no difference, the Hurst wheels were the bomb for 60s musclecars then and now.

Loaded, thanks for the pics of the Chevrolet tachs.

Or put some black tape over the screw holes.
