Hi. I ordered a carburetor rebuild kit (part number 1128 from Fusick) for my 1957 Oldsmobile 88, but the gasket for the bottom plate does not seem to be correct for my carb and now I’m unsure if it is the correct carb for a 1957 olds. Attached are pics of the old gasket(pic 1), the gasket that came in the kit(pic 2), and the only identification on the carb says GM 4 JET. Also the directions call for a part called Aux. throttle which I do not have on this carb. This car was running over the summer so it’s not missing, im just not sure this is the original carb anymore. I am trying to figure this out and was hoping someone can tell me how I can get a gasket identical to what I had. Thank you in advance for any info!
That is obviously the wrong gasket. It would create a huge vacuum leak.
Most carb kits contain at least two different configurations of this gasket. You probably got shorted.
The carb number is on a three cornered metal tag attached by an airhorn screw. Yours is obviously missing.
The carb number is not stamped anywhere on the carb on a 4GC.
