"Dust" Seal for Floor Shifter(?) / '68 442

Is there supposed to be a dust barrier seal or cover that would be positioned between the floor shifter base opening and the carpeting?

Yes there is a lower boot & metal retainer ring on console equipped cars, it's different from the boot on non-console cars. All the parts are available.

to further what rob1960 said above.... This is the Assembly page that applies. The console also has a second boot, which is shown on a different assembly manual page
