I thought there was a post somewhere on how to identify an original 1970 OAI Hood, but I can not seem to find it. I just bought a second Rallye 350 and the inside of the air inlets look slightly different then my first Rallye. Are there distinguishing marks to tell if a Hood is real or after market. Was there any other GM car that used a hood similar to the Oldsmobile Hood. I ask because on the car I just bought the screen on the inside of the Hood seems to have a triangular pattern ( with rounded corners) in the center. Almost like the air cleaner assembly had that shape at one time. I can post a pic tonight if it would help.

Yes, I had the holes on mine. But you'd have to get someone else's expertise on the matter because I just don't know enough about them. What was the build date on this car?
This Rallye has a build date of 02C. I tend to believe it is the real thing, but would really like to know the things to look. My other Rallye has the hole on the edge like yours.

Just curious is your other Rallye earlier than a 02C?
I've wondered if that had something to do with it. Now I'm wondering if this was ever referenced in the Oldsmobile PIM as a possible update.
I like the Rallye cars. Not everyone loves yellow on a car, but I never had an issue with it and actually prefer it over many colors. Congrats on owning two!
Thanks, one is a bucket seat with automatic and the other a bench seat standard. I really like them. I am going to stand both hoods next to each other and see what other differences I see.

Wow, nice find. Always good to see another Rallye being saved. Way too many dismantled in the past to restore/upgrade the thought of at the time 'better' Oldsmobile models.
Interesting, never heard about original plan to install ‘flappers’ in the W-25 hood, not unlike the GTO, GTX, and some other cars with ram air so they could be manually opened and closed.
Wonder if there is any documentation showing that was the original intent and how the dual flapper system would had been assembled. Presumably the hood flapper system would had allowed manual operation.
If true, wonder if it is was abandoned to the complexity of a hood flapper set-up or due to the ease of using a air cleaner flapper assembly? Having the option of when to open or close the ram induction would had been nice. It also might had allowed a larger opening in the air cleaner assembly.
Another interesting tidbit that keeps this 'hobby' interesting.

Most likely to clear the top/rear/center portion of the plastic flapper and/or to add stiffness to the screen itself. It was most definitely stamped into the screen when it was formed and wasn't caused afterwards by anything pushing up against it.
