I bought a '93 Cutlass 3.4L about 6 months ago and have had all kinds of electrical problems, most I've been able to fix. But the engine constantly stalled on deceleration or was 'searching' for an idle. An EGR code kept coming on even after the EGR was replaced. Many of the posts I've read here were very helpful, but the problem persisted. Then I found a post about cleaning out the EGR passageway in the upper intake manifold. I pulled the manifold and found so much carbon it took about an hour to properly clean it out. The idle issue was solved by replacing the IACV in the manifold. New spark plugs, fuel filter and air filter and it now runs, and idles fine... when warm. Still runs rough on cold starts but smooths out once it hits operating temp.
Thanks to all who post and share their knowledge. Now if I can fix the cold drivability issue I'll be really happy.
