I am in the process of taking the shell off the frame on my 71 cutlass and have most everything disconnected except this mystery cable. It runs from the top of the gas pedal through the firewall to the bottom of the engine on the passenger side. anybody know what this is and how to disconnect it? I will try to add pics later. Thanks

 

Kick down cable for the th350 transmission. Look for a plastic bushing at the top of the gas pedal, push it out and there is a slot to disengage the cable from the pedal. Then at the firewall (under the dash) you can squeeze the plastice retainer to pull the cable through the firewall.Henry
