Toronado killing when leaving red lights

My 85 toronado is running fine but it kills whenever I take off from red lights. It starts back up tho. What could be the problem?

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. First thing to check, make sure when the go pedal is pressed you are getting squirts of fuel into the carb. Engine OFF. Wear safety glasses

To check, remove air cleaner. Observe the throttle body and move the throttle through its travel. You should see two streams of raw fuel squirt out immediately.

If there is a delayed response or no fuel viewed during the throttle movement, you need to replace the accelerator pump in the carb which means a carb overhaul.

Toronado

Thanks a lot Mr don. I changed filter earlier and it's still doing the same thing. I'll try to find someone who can overhaul the carb. Thanks

When I had that problem, it was a lot of dirt in the gas tank clogging the pickup screen.
