Tires - Bias Ply to Radial
Hi,
According to the options list for my 1970 442 it came with G-70 Bial Ply tires. It currently has BF Goodrich P215/70R14s on it. However, these radials are not over 11 years old.
I've not found a really good conversion chart on the Net, but based on what I've read I actually could probably put P225/70R14s on it. In fact if I am correct they are closer in diameter to the original G-70s then the P215s.
Can anyone confirm P225s are going to fit well on the car? I am certain I have plenty of room for turns in terms of chassis, and I think (though it is harder to judge) that I have plenty of room under fenders even on a hard turn.
Thanks!

Assuming you're using the SSIII wheels in the photo (or some other wheel with stock offset) then the 225/70-14s will fit fine. These tires are about 26.5" in diameter with a section width just under 9". I've successfully run 255/60-15s at all four corners of several 68-72 A-bodies. My tires are about 1" wider and 0.5" taller than the ones you're asking about.
