Sun visor won’t stay up?

I bought new sunvsior hinges for the 69. The fall about half way down just from the vibration/wind during driving. However, it takes both hands and a lot more effort than should be needed to get them beyond that point. Is there a fix?

I assume you tightened the screw? That always worked for me

the screw is tight. I’m wondering if the bushings need to be clocked a certain way. If I tighten the screw further, that might fix the visor not staying up, and make it even more difficult to move once it reaches the point with resistance.

That “point with resistance” makes me think something is out of round and is binding. Maybe take it apart and look for what may be irregular?

I am guessing this is a new issue that arose after installing the new hinges?

If so, maybe the hinge posts need to be dressed?

I had to put a bit of cut cardstock cardboard on the outside of the bushing to give it more of a squeeze when tightening the screw.. tighten a little and then test ... fine line between holding and overtigthening and stripping the screw... How do I know.....

the bushings do have a slot cut in theem that should align with the slot in the mount. There should be a tab on the bushing that aligns it but the tab could be gone.

I’ll check that out. I don’t recall a slot or tab, but it was 6 months ago I installed them. No need for sunvisors when there is a foot of snow outside. I didn’t know there was a problem until I got the car out in the spring.
