stock power steering box ratio
I have to replace the steering box in my 69 cutlass and I was wondering what the stock ratio was. There are so many different ratios available and I do NOT want a quick ratio box (I hate the way they feel). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This one is fast ratio and fits your car. Don't mention your old one isn't as fast when you turn it in for the core.

Odds are, it doesn't have one ratio. It's probably a variable ratio box, which is looser in the middle and tighter (faster) at the far ends.
Most auto parts store replacements are probably the same ratio as yours.

Should be.
That being said, I do not know which year the variable ratio started.
It was around 1968-1971. Before that, I believe it would be referred to as a straight 16:1.
Someone with a lot of steering experience may be able to give you a better idea about your exact application.

Sounds reasonable. Just remember, the 442.com FAQ, to quote Douglas Adams, "has many omissions and contains much that is apocryphal, or at least wildly inaccurate."
Also the standard ratio and variable ratio would probably feel the same while driving. The variable ratio just requires fewer turns when parking.
