Sector Gear Help! for Tilt wheel

Posted new thread last night regarding broken ignition switch. Turns out to be broken "sector" gear.

Which turns out to be not easy to get. For some reason, that is beyond my comprehension, this part is not being made for tilt wheel steering. Plenty of vendors for non-tilt (!)(?).

I'm finding this hard to wrap my mind around — others must have had this problem and need this part.

Any advice?

Yeah. Type gm steering column parts into Google.

The very first link you get is www.steeringcolumnservices.com.

Here's the sector gear:

Lifesaver Joe. I'll be more aggressive in future searches — I gave up too easy because several vendors (Summit, Partswarehouse, OPGI, Fusick) told me it was no longer made (since you've enlightened me, I'm still confused why the heck they don't carry it).

The rack seems fully in tact, but is it commonplace to replace them together?

Thanks again. This forum is invaluable.
