Repair or replace - Lower rear shock mount

I am beginning a restoration project on rear axle for my 66' 442. I want to fix or replace the broken lower shock mount on the driver side, that has been that way since 1971. It works just fine but doesn't look good, and always has bugged me. Does anybody know if this bracket can be purchased someplace... or does somebody have a bottom section that they can cut off an old axle?

It looks like someone has already repaired it once. You can cut one off a donor rear end and replace it.

Looks to me like replacing that mount will be a lot more work than just fixing it properly, if you have a welder and grinder, etc. Seems you could cut off that piece that was added and get some more 3/8" (or whatever thickness it is) and weld it back in, grind it down, redrill hole, repaint and done.
