Re: Fan shroud removal

Quick question on 1970 A body Olds. can fan shroud be removed, after top plate is removed, (without) removal of the engine fan?

ie. will the bottom section of the shroud clearance a installed fan? Or does the fan have to be removed at the same time the shroud is lifted out of place?

With a factory fan clutch you do have to remove the fan. All belts can stay in place.

That being said I do not know about a car with just a plain fan blade.

The short answer is no. The longer answer is also no.

Usually I unbolt the shroud (top and bottom) and push it back towards the motor. This makes it easy to remove the fan (and clutch if so equipped), at which point you can remove the shroud.

Where did he write "without destroying it"?

Thanks for the question, need to replace my cracked one, was about to ask that, too.
