radio light
I'm wondering how to replace the radio dial bulb on a 71 Cutlass. It is the factory AM Olds radio. Can it be done without tearing out the whole radio from the dash? I know the bulb is listed in the owners manual. Thanks, Bil

The bulb holder slips onto a tab that is part of the top plate near the front of the radio... pretty much imposible to get your mitt in there if you have regular sized mitts...if you don't have A/C then it is fairly easy- unplug power and speaker plug, remove retainer strap fastener from back of radio, pull the ***** off, remove 5/8 nuts, tilt radio back and down and 'voila'---bulb is 1895 I think...

thanks for the pointers...I was able to get the bulb holder out without removing the radio from the dash. You go in from above (where the ashtray sits) with a couple of flatblade screw drivers and pry up the holder. When its up out of the radio casing, reach around from underneath and then push it back thru the front and then you can pull the dead bulb and put in the fresh one! Now I have a lighted radio dial like it was in the '70's!
