I have a small question regarding the 1966 Rochester 2 Jet carburetor. What is the difference in the gasket (photo attached) and also in the thickness? I currently have a thick gasket on the carburetor, but the corresponding gasket in the repair kit is only thin. Can I use it? Is the thick gasket with ventilation slots used on the idle compensator version of this carburetor? Thanks for your help.

I currently have a strong seal on the carburetor, but the matching seal is only thin in the repair kit. Can I use it? Is a strong seal with ventilation slots used on the idle compensator version of this carburetor?

OE carburetors were sold in many configurations over the course of many years. Almost all rebuild kits come with a variety of gaskets that could have fit the different configurations. Find the one that closest matches what you have. Any holes in the carb should be present in the gasket but it's possible the gasket will have some additional holes that your particular carb won't use. Not a big deal. The thinner gasket is what is commonly used in rebuilds.
