Is this the proper carb?

1968 442 - 400 CID turnpike cruiser, 2GC rochester, auto trans, no a/c

This carb came on the car when I bought it. Researching the numbers on the tag, several sites say this is for a 400 with A/C. Is this correct? And if it is, that would mean the carb should have an idle air compensator? Is this visible to confirm such as looking down the throat of the carb? And if confirmed, is it required that I replace the carb with a proper non a/c one?

Thank you

Well, the carb TAG is correct, anyway. We have no idea whether the rest of the carb is still in the OEM configuration or not.

7028158 is the correct model number for non a/c 400/455 mt or at. 7028159 is the a/c version for 400/455 mt/at. everything, except the hot idle compensator(hic), is identical between the 2 carbs. just make sure your hic stays closed, and it'll never be an issue.
