Can anyone on here tell me what my cowling tag means??? any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

try searching on Internet listing year, make, model and cowl tag information. Some here might be able to help if you gave make, year and model.

 

If you google "body by fisher tag decoder" under the images tab it will bring up tons of pictures, a lot of them will have a diagram of what each number means. I hope that helps

The tag tells us that this is a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass S V8 hardtop ("Holiday") coupe in "Sandalwood Briar" with a "Sandalwood" vinyl top.

ST 71-33687 = style = 1971 (71) Oldsmobile (3) Cutlass V8 (36) hardtop coupe (87)

Z = assembly plant = Fremont CA

07603 BDY = Fisher body number (has no relation to the VIN). As well, the "2" stamped in there off kilter is something no one knows about. It's also on my '69 Fremont 4-4-2 convertible.

TR 948 B80 = trim/interior color and front seat type/option = sandalwood color interior with a split bench seat. B80 option = exterior drip scalp molding.

78 E PNT = exterior lower body paint and upper body type/colors = antique briar (78) with a sandalwood vinyl top (E).

06D = time build code = June (06), 4th week of that month (D), 1971.

542819 690280 = numbers seeminly unique to the Fremont assembly plant that, right now, no one knows for sure what they mean. There are some people at this site who are investigating these numbers, however!
