Unhappy pinion gear for the rear

Hey gang,

I'm pulling my rear apart to clean it,paint it, and replace the ring and pinion. I have not done this in about 17 years and can't remember how the pinion gear comes out of the housing. Do I use a special tool to pull it out? Drawing a blank. Thanks guys and gals. Vinny

Once the nut and yoke are removed it should come out. Just give it some persuasion with a large rubber mallet if need be.
