Oil pump gear questions

Oil pump gear questions

Rotating assembly is installed. I disassembled and cleaned the oil pump, the gear faces feel rough. Is that normal or should they be smooth? Better to just buy a new pump or perhaps a kit?

It'll work like that, but perhaps with less output than specified, and while you're there, you MAW...

Provided the new pump is not MADE IN CHINA
New is NOT always better.
