has anyone ever found springs that will hold up the o.a.i. hood? the assembly manual lists the same spring for steel hood and fiberglass. i weighed my steel hood at 95lb and my thornton at 160lb. i have new repro. stock springs made for steel hood on rebuilt original hinges. hood will not stay fully open, and if engine is running, it will fall.

If you have an O.A.I. hood with a steel frame (aka stock or Thorntons) then use the original hood springs. Otherwise it's hit and miss.

so, does any one have a stock o.a.i hood that stays up? i will try my original springs to see if they are stronger than repro's.

I would have to guess I have installed off and on more than 25 oai hood and have never seen that problem. Always just used the stock springs.

thanks for the reply. i will try the old stock springs to see if better. maybe repro springs are not as strong.
