Need H.E.L.P.

If anyone has either a 88 series olds with a automatic on the floor with a console ? Or a 442??? I need the measurements from the firewall where it meets the floor board measure from there to where the shifters mount bolts are front and back ?? And if you can where the console mounting bracket bolts are located.??? Thank you. I have a 1968 olds Delmont 88 that I was able to buy the bucket seats and a auto floor shifter and console front a 1967 olds 442 and need the measurements to mount the shifter in the right spot. There is a flat round little raised area where the cable mount goes. Again thank you for helping

John, I can't help you with the measurements but almost assuredly the console won't fit properly in your 68 Delmont 88. The Delmont 88 is a B body and the Cutlass/442 are A bodies. I'm not sure if the B bodies had a console option in 65-70. I know the manual transmission during those years is quite rare. All that being said, there's nothing stopping you from mounting it on the floor board appropriately. My father; Oldsguy, and I mounted a console in his 69 Delta 88 from a 78 Holiday 88. We were able to restore it and paint it but it always looked a bit out of place since it was too new for the car.

Thank you. When the carpet is up I see the area where it is a round flat like bumped out a lol higher where a shifter cable round floor mount would be mounted. I heard through somewhere I read that the was a larger car olds with the auto on the floor with a console but cannot remember the model. I sat the console where I thought it would go and it seems like it would mount evenly and doesn't look bad with the bucket seats the seats and console came out of a 1967 olds 442 but stupid me didn't measure. I just wanted to get the approximately measurements where it bolts so the cable is close to where it goes to mount properly and work. Thank you so much for your reply

I would put it where it looks good and the shifter is in a comfortable position as the cable is all forgiving.

Not that forgiving. If the shifter is too far back, you can't stretch it.

Johnse31 - My 67 Delta Custom came factory equipped with buckets and a console. Here are some pictures. I believe in '67 the console used for the B bodies like my Delta was the same as used in the A body cars. My 1968 Parts Manual shows the same part numbers for the console body (upper and lower) for A body and B body cars and also the same part numbers between 67 models and 68 models. Therefore, I expect the '67 console you acquired will fit your '68 Delmont without issue. The parts manual lists only a single part number for the shift cable assembly for all '67 and '68 floor shift models with a TH400 transmission so that should work as well. Also, my understanding is the bucket seat frames were the same in A and B body cars; however, the seat tracks differ because of the different floorpans. Hope this helps. Dave

Thank you Dave I have the same console. I do appreciate the info. If by any chance you can remove your console ?( If not a task) a delta measurements would probably be closer to the measurements that my Delmont would be ??? Anyways if not a big hassle. I could really use the the placement of the shifter so I know where to drill the holes and also with the console mount holes. If not I understand. Thank you very much oh and also you mentioned a catolog would it happen to have the console door mine cracked. Thanks again Dave
