Muffler Suggestions?

I'm sure this may elicit a lot of suggestions, but I'm curious what others may be doing. I'm looking to replace the worn out glasspacks that were on my 442 when I bought it. I would like to find a free flowing muffler w/ some "aggressiveness" to it, but not loud. I'm also looking for "close to stock" appearance. Not interested in Flowmasters or other "welded" versions.

Anybody have the Dynomax Ultra Flos on ?

Thanks

Expensive, but I think it would be worth it, especially for guys like me who cannot make up their minds between quiet or loud...

What year is your car?

Thumbs up

Walker DynoMax long case Super Turbo mufflers have the right sound....decent at cruise, and like a muscle car at WOT.

I've used Dynomax on several cars and they will be going on my current never ending project I've always liked the tone they have the best and they flow very well.

Thanks ! Yep, the 17749's are the "hemi mufflers" that I'm planning to put on my 69 Charger R/T. Kind of wondering whether the "shorty" versions (not sure part number) might not be a good choice for the 442? I understand they'll be a tick louder, but I don't think by much...

I've used the 14" Walkers on a number of 442s. I like the sound. No droning and not obnoxiously loud.

Forget Dynomax mufflers. They are too pricey! Get a pair f 6" O'Reilly brand glasspacks, weld them on and cut the tail pipes off about 1" behind the glasspacks. That will be LOUD!

Really though, I haven't put any new mufflers on my 71 Olds yet. When I had the exhaust done on my 64 98 I had cheapo Flowmaster knock-offs installed. They were ok. Seems like Dynomax might be the way to go.

Are the stock pipes on a '68 442 2 1/4 or 2 1/2?

Any experience with DynoMax on '66-'67 442s with stock chambered tailpipes?
