Mondello vs Edelbrock

Currently I have a Modello single plane Intake manifold on my 455 stroker. The engine is in the process of being put back together. and run up on an engine dyno prior to installation. Has anyone run both the Mondello single plane and a Edelbrock Performer Dual plane on a dyno to see the difference? The engine builder is worried that the size of the plenum will hurt throttle response in the bottom end. Please advise.

Your question can't be answered without knowing the specs on the engine and the intended use. The manifold choice for a lightweight drag car will be different from that for a Delta 88 street cruiser.

Engine info

Joe
The engine is a 495 stroker with a moderate cam (.57 lift ) and a 10.5 to 1 comp ratio. It has a roller valve train , roller cam , and Edelbrock heads ( ported w/ oversize valves ). I am running a Fast EFI with a Sportsman computer ( computer tunable). The trans is a Turbo 400 with a 2200 stall converter. The car will spend most of its time going to shows and was never meant to be a drag car. I ran the Mondello prior and it ran well. The cam now in the motor is slightly bigger than prior but Comp assured us that we will still have good vacuum signal for the Fast EFI. I wanted it to have good punch but did not intend to race it.

My gut says that on that motor, the Performer will not make much difference down low and will definitely choke the motor at higher RPMs.
