Missing joint oldsmobile 88 1979

Hello everyone,

I come here because everything is working on this oldsmobile 88 from 1979 but there is a joint missing, it is the one between the inlet casing and the injection pump…and i cant find one please if anyone got the name/reference of the part im looking for or even better yet a link to one…

Any suggestions or help is appreciated, i live in France btw.

Thanks to you guys in advance !

Welcome. I'm not sure exactly what your question is, but that flange you have circled is for the thermostat and housing. The step in the casting is where the thermostat sits. The gasket between the manifold and thermostat housing goes above the thermostat.

Sort of confused.

Your Oldsmobile has the diesel engine in it? If you need parts off of that engine your best bet is to buy a core.

X2 on what JoeP said, I see it as a circle around the thermostat and an arrow pointing toward that circle.

I'm thinking Diesel also, judging by the hood ornament as well. Geez, how rare is that in France, might be the only one(?)

Here's a schematic of the Oldsmobile diesel. Apparently, there's an adapter that goes between the injection pump and the intake manifold. If your's is missing the only place to find one would be a salvage yard engine.

You're going to have difficulty finding parts for an Oldsmobile diesel engine. Here's one source that I found with a quick Google search.

The intake he posted is a diesel intake, so there's no question.

I'm still unclear on exactly what question you are asking. The first photo you posted is an Olds diesel intake manifold. The area you circled is the location of the coolant thermostat and housing. The injector pump bolts into the hole just to the left of the circled area in your photo. What do you need?

While you aren't necessarily doomed, just understand that Oldsmobiles have very little parts support, let alone parts for the most notorious of Oldsmobile engines (the 5.7l IDI diesel).

Hey sorry for the long time to reply i was quite busy. So the problem is that theres one joint missing where i circled and when you start the car theres oil coming out of that area with the missing joint (the joint is supposed to be between the inlet manifold and the injector pump) Anyone know what joint it is ?
