Lower Rad Hose

I squeeze the upper hose and it feels like nothing is in it, but the lower hose feels like there is something in the hose (lumpy) does the lower hose have a steel coil in it? or do I have a problem?

It probably has the metal string in it.Seems like they put it in the bottom more than top.

There's a spring in the bottom hose because that is the suction side. The top hose is the pressure side into the radiator and isn't going to collapse.
