I need to replace the rubber sleeve near the base of the steering column on my 66 Project. It looks sort of like a piece of radiator hose, and fits inside the firewall mounting plate. Anyone have a source for them?

 

Has no one had to replace one of these on a 49 year old car?

 

I dunno about for our Oldsmobiles as a direct fit, but I've for sure seen what you're talking about as a universal part that I've seen used on trucks and rock crawlers that have custom firewalls and swapped steering columns. Look up "steering column boot kit" and you'll see some variations. Maybe one will work, it's not like you'll really be seeing it. Good luck.

 

The part I need is not really a boot, it is a sleeve that slips over the column housing from the bottom and rests about 6" up from the bottom bearing. It looks like it's been cut from a piece of radiator hose, about 2" wide.
