J-2 Air Cleaner conversion
I am putting a 57 J-2 in my 50 Tudor Sedan and want to convert my dual oilbath air cleaner to a paper or K&N filter element. My local parts house was not able to find a filter element that will fit.
Any comments or help???

J-2 Air Cleaner conversion
Standing by and thanks---I just know it can be done---finding the correct element is the issue. Neither WIX or K&N have a listing for the size I think I need. Approx 3"x8 3/8"...

Is your air filter the football shaped unit or the round style like what is on a Pontiac of the same age. The round style should be fairly easy to find, you might look a a larger auto parts house and take the filter with you.The football shaped unit could be a problem.
Most adapt three single paper pot elements but that may not be the look you are looking for I can't seem to get a image to transfer for some reason, a picture is worth a 1000 words....Tedd

OK Guys---thanks for your help. I contacted WIX and they came up with their number 42011 which is a drop in replacing the metal units with the steel mesh (you will need two). The fit is near perfect for the dual bath (football shaped) stock J-2 Aircleaner. Wix was very helpful and if you provide them with the dimensions you need (ID,OD,Height) they may have something you need.
I wanted to keep it as stock looking as possible, hence I did not want three individual air cleaners. The tri five purists know the setup that was on Olds, Pontiac and Chevy (58+)
I'm trying to post photos of the car in the gallery but I have to adjust their size. What a pain...Anyway the car is a 50 tudor sedan from Arizona---no rust but a ton of dust everywhere and no hits----really a virgin and it came with original tires and wheelcovers.
My High school car was a 49 Olds coupe with many fond memories and as a teenager, I tried to hot rod it on a paperboys income...so when this car came along, I couldn't pass it up.
It is as stock looking as possible---but---the 57 J-2 and the Tremec five speed trans give it away. The front clip is a 2004 Ford Crown Vic police unit with struts, rack 'n pinon and disc brakes. The rear is a Ford Explorer 8.8 unit to get me disc brakes in the rear. The rear axle is welded into the Olds suspension so it still lifts on acceleration. Wheels are mustang Bullit---the closest I could get to American Mags and fit over the brakes. Interior is stock with new fabric from SMS in Oregon, modernized radio and instrument cluster for the 12v electrics. It has an E-Stopp e-brake, aftermarket cruise control and a/c.
