help on my 69 olds radio
putting my factory radio in my 69 hurst and it has a factory amp with it I cant seem to find where to put it I have the glove compartment box out and still cant seem it figure it out? and im putting an 8 track player under the dash and I don't know where it goes either. I need some pictures thanks in advance
Sounds to me that you have a factory AM-FM stereo radio. The "amp" is really a sort of multiplex unit that gives you the stereo sound through the rear speaker. As pacekar said, the multiplex unit mounts above the glove box and there are special brackets that make it happen.
Here is a picture of my niece's '68 4-4-2 and where her 8-track player is located. The wiring for the 8-track is shown in the PIM (product information manual; more commonly referred to now as the assembly manual). If you don't have an assembly manual, I highly recommend you buy one. They are available on ebay. You should also be able to get a cleaner copy at the web site www.wildaboutcars.com. There are dues to belong to wildaboutcars but the assembly manual they have (that can be downloaded) is so much cleaner than the Millenium Indistries copy you get on ebay.
