Help keying out floor shifters

Well, I've got some shifters that I've collected over the years and thought they were pretty interchangable. I wanted to take some pictures that may help a fellow member figure out why his conversion wasn't working. But I discovered several difference. I expected the different detents for the 2 speed and 3 speed transmissions. It looks like three different bases, I'm thinking the short ones are 1967-68? With what I thought was 1969-72 I found two different noses where the shifting cable goes through the front of the shifter base. I also noticed the stud on the shifter handle was different lengths, which matched the different noses. But I found three different lengths, not the two I expected. I don't know for sure, there may be some 1973-77 stuff here too. Dang! Why didn't I label them as I collected them . So here's some pictures, can you guys help me key them out? Then we can use this thread as a reference.

the one with the short stud for the cable that also has the slot for the cable that is up. That one is 69/70 only with the neutral safety switch. The other is 71/72. the 69/70 has the 4 bolt holes, that is where the neutral safety bracket attaches. the 69/70 will work on the 71/72 but to go the other way is a little harder if you want the switch to work.

I do not know the top shifter.

I concur with Eric. I have attached a few photos of a 71 three speed shifter I bought last year but it would not work with the new 70 cable I bought because the flange on the cable attachment pin was the wrong depth, and it did not have the extra holes for the switch bracket or the extra bit on the end which serves as a console support. I found a 70 shifter later but took no photos.

Having trouble with security tokens when loading photos - will complete later

The upper one with the moving finger grip is 1973-77. On the 67-72 shifters the finger grip is fixed and you press down on the ball. On the later shifters the **** is fixed and you pull up on the finger grip.

The base plate of the one on the left looks like a 1971 part. See Page 7-116 of the 1971 Asm Man. The 1971 shifter also had a cable pin with a different diameter than the 1970.
The base plate on the right may not be a 70 part (see page 7-120 of the 1970 Asm Man) and note the opening for the cable yoke points up on that one, not to the left.

shifter

Guys:
I am going thru the same thing now, my shifter looks like the bottom pic in Johns
layout w/ the upward curved detent. My cable cutout comes out the top but has a cable attach that seems to be in between both in length on the shifter side that the neutral switch attaches to, mine also has the neutral switch mount point made into the bracket on the left side w/ a U shaped bracket that attaches w/ screws from the bottom in front of the shifter, the shifter ball floats up/down and the chrome shifter handle has a black stripe on the left side, any ideas? Maybe a new player in the lineup! I would love to post pics have do not have the camera or know how.
Thanks Ron
