going crazy over oil leak

going crazy over oil leak

leaking oil out of rear engine breather on my 324ci. Does anybody know why? driving me crazy

Does it have PCV? Too much pressure in the crankcase like oldcutlass is talking about?

If there's oil leaking out of the breather either there is no pcv or its not properly hooked up. I just went through this, the breather is where fresh air comes in not blowby coming out.

vent tube

thanks for feed back but no pcv it has a vent tube behind intake manifold on block that runs down to bottom of engine.

Check to make sure that your vent cap (where you put the oil in) is clean. It is could be clogged pressurizing the pan and forcing oil out. Rinse in a coffee can or similar metal container with white gas or similar cleaner. Often overlooked on these engined

AS mentioned above, make sure your breather is clean, you can wash it out with keroseen or varsol, and gently blow it dry! Also make sure your vent tube is not full of ^%$$% also!

There is a mod to put a pvc in your fill tube, and do away with the vent tube in the back by installing a freeze plug.

checked oil cap

Oil cap is clean but the fill tube looks clogged, how do you clean that?

It's a slip fit, but very tight!!!!!! Btw when was the last time this motor was apart??

Bought it 3 years ago, dont know history of her. just that it had sitting for years and had blowen head gaskets. installed new and havent had problems till now.

more info

Got underneath her and noticed the road draft tube was missing filter. Could this cause oil to leak out due to not enough back pressure? it was on there the last time I was under.
