GM foil decal

I hear conflicting info on the "GM" foil decal on the driver's door side jamb. I've been told '66 got the Aqua and '67 got the Blue and it was not used after that. Then I've seen cars up thru '72 with the Blue decal. Also, not that it's a good reference but, some parts catalogs show the decal for '66-'67 only, some show '66-'72. Anybody know what's correct?

I'm right there with you. Pretty sure its only for 66 and 67 but have seen them on so many 68 - 72s I don't know. And many of the parts suppliers say it fits 68 - 72 too.

When I ordered stickers years ago for my car the "kit" came with one so its on my door, though I'm leaning towards it shouldn't be.

Mine has one from the P.O. but my Assembly manual shows every decal and their placement, including the ones on the driver's door, and makes no mention of it so it's coming off.

My '72 does not have one and it is completely original and unchanged since leaving the factory. Checked it yesterday when I first read this thread.

My 72 didn't either, but I just think it looks cool, so I put it on both sides. From what I understand, they were originally installed on some cars to reflect approaching cars headlights when the door was opened at night? Truth or fiction??

My '70 GTO (a Fremont car), which I know to be original, doesn't have the GM foil tag sticker.

Does anyone have a picture or the approx location for this decal on a 67? Also, most references I've seen say this was on the driver door only but they come in pairs. Is this true or does it matter?
Thanks

I looked through the 67 Cutlass Assembly manual. It shows where the decals and tags should be on the Cutlass line, but cannot find any reference to the foil decal.

There is also nothing I can find in the Chassis Service Manual.

From what I've heard, the foil decal for the 67 should be a green/blue with silver instead of the deep blue/silver. You might be able to get some information from Mark Cornea (Dr. Decal) - according to his website the decal is only for the drivers door. He also offers a free service to provide information on where the decal would install. http://www.drdecal.com/store/search....d=603&ccat=136

Hope this is helpful to your question.

Thanks much Alan R! That's exactly the info I needed. Helps with the trunk area too!
