Flarestat interchange

Does anyone know if a Pontiac flarestat Grp #2.575 Part #984598 works with Oldsmobile? Thanks

I'm sure you can make it work.

That part number is not in the Olds Parts Manual.

As Eric says, most of this stuff was functionally similar, if not identical, and the different part numbers often represent cosmetic differences (such as different dashboard *****).

Good luck!

That's what I'm thinking, the books I have don't show it as interchanging but would think it could. There is a # for 66 olds but it doesn't show a corresponding Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac use.

It's an aftermarket dealer installed item, the flarestat corp made different ones for all makes. If it's for an A body it should work.

If it's carrying a GM part number the difference between the marques will be the plug at the turn signal switch end. As an example I have one on my 64 Starfire that listed for a 1966 Cadillac. The t/s switch plug is the same, it's the earlier triangular plug at bottom of steering column.

Other applications may use the later crescent type plug. Sometimes the GM parts package will include a jumper harness to mate different t/s wiring.

A generic Flarestat will require a good understanding of the car's turn signal wiring but they're not difficult to install.
