Factory Assembly Manual

I needed two pieces of information from a factory manual: One, a wiring schematic, and two, an exploded view of the door window and quarter window mechanisms and bracketry. This manual has neither. Is there a companion manual to this one? or did I purchase the wrong thing?

As an aside, the printing is quite poor in this book making it difficult to read the small print. The pages remind me of an old ditto machine from back in the day..

The original full-color OEM wiring diagram is contained in the 1969 CSM (Chassis Service Manual).

There is a difference between what I sell and the others. Body manual and chassis manual will help you.

Buy an original OEM 1969 Oldsmobile CSM (Chassis Service Manual), copies are poor, CDs nearly useless - good used editions are your best. It truly is your bible for the vehicle. As Paul (Hairy Olds) indicated, the Fisher Body Service Manual is a good addition to your library. Paul sells an EXCELLENT copy of the 1969 Product Information Manual (PIM), often referred to as the Factory Assembly Manual. In order of most likely importance is the (1) CSM, (2) PIM & (3) Fisher Body.

You'll find a range of prices for OEM originals, here's one example. Good Luck!

The Product Information Manual (aka Assembly Manual) is simply a collection of the engineering drawings used to assemble the car in the factory. It does not typically have wire harness info since the harness came to the assembly line already put together. The wiring diagram (along with pretty much all the info you need to maintain, overhaul, and repair the car) is in the Chassis Service Manual. The items provided by Fisher Body (including doors, windows, interior, body trim, headliner, convertible top, etc) are in the Fisher Body Manual. You need those. Spend the money and get paper originals, not reprints, PDFs, or CDs. The latter are all copies of originals and details get lost in the process.

The assembly manuals are essentially bootlegs. They're collected element sheets from assembling the car that were saved. The reason some have more than others is that they were not assembled in one piece on the shop floor; your process had your stuff in it, nothing else.

Paul has good connections and sells good stuff, get one of his.

Another item is the parts book, frequently couple with the illustration book. This lets you look up visually where something is, find out what it is called, find it in the index, flip to the page, and find the part numbers for what you need. This allows your car to look correct, and not gangsta.

This is all true, but neither of those will provide the info the OP is looking for. That info is in the CSM and FBM.

I didn't say it did, OP's question has been answered already.
