Is there a date code on engine blocks and if there is where would I locate it

 

On my '68 400, there is a julian date (up to 3 numbers) cast into the block aft of the intake manifold. That will tell you what day of the year (i.e.; 345 = 345th day of the year) the block was cast; there is nothing (to my knowledge) that will tell you what year.
