Cutlass 3/4 side window removal
Have an 80 442.
Have gutted interior.
On the 3/4 window, took the top and lower bracket off.
Is the window just held in with the window glue????????
I'd hate to break it if there is something else holding it in.
I think I see the screws that hold the outer trim on. I know the 81-87 had no outer trim and the window was held in with speed nuts.
So do I just break the window glue seal and push it out toward the inside of the car.
Thanks for anyones help

I've seen Brian on Classic Gbody garage take out a 3/4 window on a after 1981 Cutlass and it did have speed nuts. My 1980 doesn't have them and only a bracket at the top and bottom. So hopefully I assume there is nothing else holding it in but seam sealer and glue.

CRUZN 66 is right on with the 79/80 having a different quarter window setup than the 81-88 quarter window and the posted procedure should work. Figure 11-11 is a bit fuzzy in the post though, so it's tough to figure how to get the surrounding trim off from the picture. If concerned with breaking stuff, get it to an automotive glass shop. I've never taken out a 79/80 quarter window. Not too many people have even attempted that to my knowledge.
For reference, the 81-88 are easy in comparison. You take the inner panel out, remove the speed nuts, warm up the butyl (much easier if the car is out in the hot summer sun) and gently but firmly, press on the inside glass to get it to loosen up. It's a captured piece of glass with rubber surround too, but is pretty sturdy. Don't shove it out where it will fall out if it pops out. Put your hand on the outside of the glass to catch it in case it wants to fall out. If you break it, good luck finding another one cheap. If it doesn't go, don't force it. Just warm up the butyl some more. It COULD get messy and gooey, though when it comes out. Cool down the butyl and you can stick it to itself and should clean up easier.
