window rails and window separation.

hello everyone, I have a question the passenger side window came loose from the window rail that holds the window in the door. It`s where the adhesive goes on the metal base and holds the window to the rail. what is the process foe reattaching the window to the rail? And what
adhesive do I use? thanks

It is not really an adhesive, it is rubber gasket material. I've not tried to reattach one while in the car, others will probably chime in to advise if it can be done or not. Mine was out of the door, so here is what I did. Visit your local windshield replacement shop, take the parts with, and ask them which thickness to use, it comes in a couple of thicknesses. You can get it from them too. It can be sort of a bear to reinstall the glass. When I had to do it on my car, the guy told me to use 3 in 1 oil to coat the rubber and tap (gently - with a rubber mallet) the glass back in to the channel. There will be some gasket material sticking proud of the channel. Trim with a razor knife and clean off the oil. Note to self - it is a pretty messy job, you will want to wear nitrile gloves.
