Crankshaft

Team,
I am putting my stuff on my motor. After torqueing the main crank caps, I have "play" on the crank. I noticed it when I picked up on the crank shaft to reposition the engine.

How much distance/clearance should there be on the main caps to the crank?

I'm not sure how you can feel play with those tight clearances. Less than a half thousandths on a main will almost guarantee a spun bearing.

So, I came to the conclusion, the crank must have been turned, at least once, in the last 45 years....

When my plastigauge arrives, I will see just how much and order the correct bearings....

Anyone need a set of new bearings?
