Well I've done a few things since we last spoke.

I removed the original steering box and replaced it with a re manufactured unit due to it's leaky nature. Everything is up and snug but connecting the actual steering box to the column which I once removed (I REALLY WISH I TOOK PICTURES BEFORE I UNBOLTED AND REMOVED) and now im thinking maybe even im missing hardware to reconnect?
I wish I had a picture of the orginal bolt setup connecting the steering box to the column port in the engine bay. Here are the pictures I took and the bolts I have left...

I'd just buy a new ragjoint.

If you insist on putting that one back together, first thing you need to do is remove it from the steering box. Once you have the metal half sitting next to the rubber it should be obvious which way it goes together... Two bolts go through only the rubber & mounting pads, two studs should attach to the back of the metal half. The grounding wire should go from one of the bolt pads to one of the stud pads to allow the ground to pass from the collumn to the box.

Its not complicated, but you will need that stuff off the car to reassemble it.

 

Did someone hacksaw into the base metal on the base plate that fits the spline on the gearbox?

 

By looking at the outlines between clean and dirty, you can find where some of the parts go. Also, the studs are different sizes. Look on your steering intermediate shaft flange to see which is where.

 

Does look like it's been 'sawed' to perhaps remove a bolt?

 

Note that there are only one bolt in the picture and two are required. Maybe the missing one was the one sawn off?

Maybe the owner before me did? I was able to take it apart without using a saw.
But I couldn't figure it out really, and ended up tearing the rubber gasket that goes in between the two.
Now it's at the shop

Where can I get that rubber 4 hole round gasket online?

Rambow called it a ragjoint or is that something else?

 

NAPA has them for GM cars. I got my rag joint from NAPA for like $10.00

It is called a rag joint or a flexible coupling disc for the steering shaft. If you call it a gasket, Those parts store counter guys will go into brain overload and shutdown.........

Now the steering is hooked up again, and I put different OEM spark plugs in since I was running crappy accel plugs before.

My mechanic says it wont start and they need to really look into why it wont start.
It's not something stupid like the battery or plug wires.
But hopefully it is something stupid we overlooked.
I havent started my car for 3+ weeks because I was working on it bit by bit.
I also hooked up the passenger side exhaust to the old passenger side manifold. I capped it off where it hooked into the drivers side manifold with a freeze plug and high temp silicon. The drivers side new "starfire" manifold is wide open. AT first my mechanic said it wont start because of no backpressure on that side...but I said theres no way thats why it wont start.
I filmed a little video on my phone of me firing up the car with open headers..
