Clock lens

I’m trying to replace all the damaged lenses on dash instrument panel and all Good except for the Clock ... can’t get the winder pin thumb **** to separate in order to slide new lens Over the pin . Super frustrating and do not want to damage and then have to McGiver some sort of solution ...any tips , thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated . I’m not even clear if it’s threaded or a press tabbed fit on the thumb screw

Year and model would help. On a '68 Cutlass a small screw in the middle of the **** comes out and the **** slides off.

On my 70, the clock **** was threaded on.

A small amount of heat and a drop of Kroil loosened it up.

Need to protect the shaft and **** when using pliers.

Common problem.

Sorry, failed to clarify . 1972 olds cutlas

the drilled lens whole only looks of a diameter to accommodate The pin And not he black tubing that surrounds the pin but again the issue is I can’t dislodge the thumb wheel to even address that problem .

i can find no reference for this anywhere

As my442 said it is threaded on. Turn **** off pin counterclockwise. I did mine, I think I used needle nose pliers to hold pin and turned **** with my fingers. Only problem is then it's hard to get tight enough as before and when setting clock it wants to unscrew...
