Carb ID number
Carb ID number
The ole' Jetstar 1 (1965) has finally reached the point that the carb needs freshened up. It has the original 425 with what I am fairly certain is the original 4GC carb. I only have a third of the tag, the part with the hole in it, lol! The top of the carb does not have four numbers stamped anywhere, so now I'm wondering. Does anyone know the number range of the carb this car would have been built with? I'd like to get a kit, and find a replacement tag. My goal is not to restore this car, so much as to make everything "correct" as I go through it. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the input. I did pick up a body service manual a when I ran across one last summer. I'm getting ready to market the car, so I was just hoping someone had a 425/370 to pull a tag number from.
Chassis Service Manual is the complement to the body service manual. It's all the mechanical things that are NOT body.
Spend the little, get your carb number, include the manual when you sell the car.

For the 1965 "425" "4GC" without A/C: 7025050
It appears that there was a mid-year change for the A/C cars: early was 7025051; late was 7025255.

Thanks Ozzie! I had it narrowed down to the 7025050 and the 7025051, but was scratching my head on which for what. My car is an early build A/C car, so 7025051 it is! Thanks for taking the time, I didn't want to wait for a book to locate a kit. Where do I send the five bucks, lol!
The forums have helped me learn much, so I like to contribute when I can. (The bulletin didn't have a date for the change; perhaps it was mid production year.) Only three parts changed; the air horn, and the primary and secondary floats. The early version used the same ones as the non A/C cars. The late version used something different. But they were short lived, as 1966 brought the quadrajet. Best wishes for the New Year.
