A/C Delete and heater box cover plate
Good evening all. I have a '69 442 that came from the factory with A/C. I want to remove the factory A/C evaporator box and clean up the firewall. I know I'm not the first to do this so what company's products is everyone using? I want to keep the heater function and may eventually go with a Vintage Air "like" system....just not now. My EVAP box looks to be in good shape so I'll list it for the resto crowd.
Has anyone used these?

Just keep in mind that these delete covers still use the vacuum-operated under dash box from the A/C configuration. That means that you have to retain the A/C control head and the vacuum source and reservoir (ball) connected to the engine if you want heat and defrost capabilities. The heat-only control head is cable operated and won't work with the A/C under dash box, and the cable-operated heat-only under dash box doesn't seal to the A/C delete cover.
If you mean that the firewall CUTOUTS are larger for A/C cars, that is true for the 68-72 cars, which is why you can't just install a stock heater-only box, at least not without filling in the A/C cutouts and then cutting the correct heater-only cutouts.
I apologize. I know this thread is old but I am doing the same thing on my 70 Cutlass Supreme the OP was doing and was looking at that same kit from acdelete.com. only because I also need to replace my blower and heater core as well.
I know it was mentioned that the original AC core box and controls and vacuum need to remain for the heat and defrost to work. That being said, am I correct in assuming you also need to use a heater core for the AC setup, vs non-AC heater core?
Thanks.

Sorry to revive this. Had a question about the blower motor cage. My original metal cage is unusable so I need to replace. It looks like replacement cages fit multiple years and, in addition, there is a different cage for AC and heat only. In addition, there is the plastic vs metal issue.
That said, can I acquire a cage through one of the parts stores that lists for several different years? If so, is there a year that's best? Not much listed for a 1970 specifically. It can be anything aftermarket. Also, is there any advantages/disadvantages of plastic vs metal? And finally, what is the difference between the AC and heat only cage. The AC maybe looks like it's deeper? Which, I'm guessing, would theoretically move more air?
Thanks. Sorry for all the questions.
