alignment specs, 1976 A chassis

alignment specs, 1976 A chassis

I need the front end alignment specs for a 1976 extended A chassis.

I've looked for it on google, and I don't get anything useful back, mostly chrysler A chassis, and GMC motorhome information.

my car is a 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme cruiser (big block)

I know sb and bb cars had different front suspension, so the information I found on the alignment rack's database (for either a custom cruiser, or a sb cutlass supreme) will be off.

also, for all practical purposes, can I just say I have a vista cruiser? "cutlass cruiser" isn't in Auto zone's database, or anyone's for that matter.

This information is in the factory service manual. Perhaps someone on here with a '76 manual can give you the info. Unfortunately, Wild About Cars, which has many factory manuals, does not yet have the '76.

Are you sure about the distinction between big block and small block engines? I have the '73 Olds Chassis Service Manual (which IS available on Wild About Cars), and in the section on Alignment (see section 3, pages 3-10 through 3-15), no distinction is made for engine size. There are only three sets of specs given, one for Omega, one for Cutlass, and one for 88 and 98. No distinction is made between station wagon and non-station wagon, either.

I know they used stronger springs in bb cars. that may not effect alignment numbers though, I could be wrong.

I'm curious why you need to know this. Are you planning to do an alignment yourself? If you're just taking it to an alignment shop, I'm sure they can get the specs.

When I had new tires put on my '73 Custom Cruiser back in the summer of 2010, I had the same place do a front-end alignment. They didn't need any info from me. They pulled up the specs with no trouble from whatever their usual sources are and did the job. No muss, no fuss.

I have access to an alignment rack through my technical school, and it pulls to the left just a little bit, so I figured I'd stay late one day and fix it.

we have books of alignment specs, but it is NOT a complete collection, and I couldn't find anything GM pre-1982 in there.

I'll just suggest that if you plan to keep this car and work on it, spend the money and buy a used original Chassis Service Manual. There are over a dozen 1976 CSMs on ebay at the moment, with current prices ranging from $10 to $40.
