Air cleaner top plate decal question 68 442

I have the double snorkel OAI air filter assembled or the 68 442 and have found that the correct decal is the Oldsmobile / 442 full size type. My question is we’re these aluminum foil with a chrome polish background or were they brushed aluminum? I see both types made from foil and paper. What is correct? Thanks Matt

1968 was the last year to use the metal "pie tin" on the air cleaner. 1969 started the use of the decal.
Be wary of what you see on cars today, as all of them have been altered from stock over the last half century. This may be hard to believe, but very few 1968 442s came from the factory with W36 stripes, for example.

Thanks I know this part but what were the pie pan decals made of and the finish?
You are correct to be wary of today’s decals on cars for originality. I’m just trying to buy the correct finish one as these are not cheap decals.😳

The 1968 pie pans are brushed aluminum and are 360 degress. The 1969 decals are mylar and are 180 degrees.
