Again need H.E.L.P. On frame rear rails switch ????
I need help I have a 1968 Olds Delmont 88 great condition except for both rear frame rails. I found a 1967 Delmont 88 convertible I'm imaculent rebuild condition with a new top... I wish I had the time and money to restore both but it was a deal for the convertible so I bought but I really need for someone who knows what they are talking about to let me know if the rear frame rails are the same ???? They look the same.. But I would really like to know for sure if they are interchangeable before I cut them off the convertible. Please and thank you for the help in advance.. Please I am wanting to do this soon if they are.. I have sort of a health timeline and would like to get my 68 on the road and at least drive it a couple times while I can again Thank you My 68
My 68
I recently came across a deal I couldn't refuse... I bought a good restorible 1967 olds delmont 88 2 door hoping the rear frame rails would be interchangeable with my 1968 olds Delmont 88 2 door hardtop ???? Are they both b- bodies ?? Will this work ? Would like to know before I cut up the convertible. They look fairly ythe same ?
Thank you. John 1967 olds delmont 88 for sale whole or parts
You'll get a better answer faster if you DON'T spam multiple threads with the same question. In this case, yes, these are B-body cars. The entire 68 convertible frame should swap under the 67 hardtop.
The Oldsmobile Parts Catalog shows different parts numbers for all the frames in this discussion .
The '68 Delmont is a 5400 series car .The book shows part # 398006 . Unless it has a 455 engine in which case it is # 398004.
I don't know what the difference is among these frames , Only that there was enough difference that each frame was assigned a different part number .
I sure wouldn't hack up a restorable convertible for pieces of your car . There is a good chance that they wouldn't fit anyway .
Sell the convertible and buy a '68 Delmont 4 door for parts .
Or better yet , find one in a western salvage yard , where the yard owner is willing to ship you the frame pieces you need .
I'm not sure how to read your code book ,but just wondering if the 1967 delmont 88 2 door convertible had the same frame as my 1968 Delmont 88 2 door hardtop ? Would you be interested in buying the convertible ? 1967 olds delmont 88 for sale whole or parts
I might be interested in the convert except for one thing . I'm chest deep in a restoration and have no time or money for another .
Here's a suggestion though . Look at restoring the convertible and use your rusty two door for parts .
The convert is worth a whole lot more than the hardtop , and the restoration cost is about the same .
Where are you located? If you don't want to cut up the convertible I have a 1968 Delmont 2 door hardtop parts car. If it has the parts you need in good condition I'd be willing to cut the frame rails and ship to you. John
Well, I need the space. I'm going to try and finish pulling parts from the 1968 Delmont and take it to the crusher this coming week. It does have a good frame. If your interested in parts from it please let me know. John
