'73 Custom Cruiser central locking motor(?)/door dismantle

Hey all,

The central locking motor (is that the correct term?) in my drivers door has become detached from whatever bracket was holding it in. It still all functions fine but it rocks around and bangs about in the door.
I've taken all the door trim off and has a feel around and tried to take as best pic I could but I can't say for certain how its fitted in place. It feels like it may have a bracket attached it that is (was) welded to the door.
I've taken the trim off the passengers side too to compare but it hasn't helped much.

A job a also need to do in the future is clean and grease the window raise/lower mechanisms as well as replace the window seals.
It would be very helpful to have full access to the inside of the door for these jobs but looking at it, it looks like they don't come apart. Am I missing a trick or should I be prepared to cut the inside of the door off and then weld it back on later?

Thanks
Toby

I didn't see the picture you posted.

I wouldn't resort to cutting just yet. Was it the power door lock mechanism or the power window motor that came loose?

I forgot to upload it, oops. That photo is taken facing towards the latch end of the door.

Its directly below the door lock bar and operates when I press the central locking button.
The window motor is in the bottom of the door nearer the hinge end right?

For goodness sake, don't start cutting metal. The inside of the door is accessible if you remove the inside trim panel.

The "trick" you need, if you don't already have one, is to buy one of these, a 1973 Fisher Body service manual, which covers things like the car's doors, windows, front end, rear end, etc. that are not covered in the chassis manual.

There are many of these available on ebay. Here's just one.
