72 442 Dashboard Indicator Light Inquiry

My 442 has a small set of indicator lamps (2) on top of the dash. Can't find them on wiring diagram and don't know what they indicate. Here's a pic. Anyone know what this is for?

This is the 'fasten seat belts' light for cars that were manufactured after Jan 1972 AND had the U21 rallye pac gauges.

The problem is that your Chassis Service Manual was printed BEFORE Jan 1972, and thus does not include this circuit. There is likely a Dealer Service Bulletin that covers it.

I know. I was simply informing the OP as to why he couldn't find it in his wiring diagram.

1972 Cutlass - Dashboard and Warning Lights.

I removed ALL of the dashboard indicator lights (speedometer, fuel gauge & warning lights) from my 1972 Cutlass to replace them, but then realized that the sockets are different colors. It looks like there are four colors - grey 194 bulb type, black 161 bulb type, green 168 bulb type and tan 557 bulb type. I'm pretty sure that the grey are the speedometer and fuel gauge lights. Does anyone know what the color sockets are for the warning lights (brake, gen, oil hot)? Thanks

Thanks for this information Joe, and the quick response. I'd also like to brighten the dash up a bit, do you have any experience with LED upgrades for the dash lights? Jim

I have not personally used them in the dash. I love them as 1157 replacements.
